AIM HIGHER –

On April 27, 2014, Brittany graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Social Work from Eastern Michigan University.  After spending her teenage years in foster care, this was not a given.  Less than five percent of young adults who age out of foster care graduate with a bachelor’s degree .

How did Brittany do it?  With hard work, determination, keeping her goal in mind, never giving up – and support.  Caring individuals, from her high school English teacher to her EMU MAGIC  coach and her FC2S mentor, encouraged her, celebrated her victories and supported her during her dark hours.

For the past year, Brittany has written a blog sharing her experiences, and she plans to continue as a graduate student.

Yes!  As a graduate student.  This fall, Brittany will attend the prestigious University of Michigan for an accelerated Master of Social Work.  Congratulations, Brittany!  We are all proud of you.
